Caitlin came to me early one December, looking up with her baby blues. "Will you help me write a letter to Santa?" She held forward her pen and soft pink writing pad.
I told her about Santa being a fictional character, a spirit and not a flesh-and-blood being existing in objective reality. I told her Mom and Dad did the shopping, wrapping and put the Christmas tree up.
Biting her lip, she nodded through my diatribe, finally saying: "Oh." She held up the pen and soft pink writing pad. "Now, will you help me write a letter to Santa?"
